Wheelchairs to the Caribbean
Posted by billparker on: Saturday 15 September @ 19:42:50
PDG Dennis Sanders is glad to announce that our District has finalized arrangements for this district to be part of a joint Wheelchair Foundation/Rotary Foundation Matching Grant project for several Caribbean islands. (Go to Main Menu, select Wheelchair Foundation, and select "Wheelchairs to the Caribbean Information" for details).

This is a wonderful opportunity for our clubs to be able to participate in a Foundation Matching Grant simply by providing funds to send wheelchairs to the Caribbean. The Matching Grant will enable us to leverage our donations two to three times. If a club decides to support one chair by sending $75 to the Wheelchair Foundation it will actually be sending 2-3 chairs for the price of one due to the matching part of the grant. I don’t think we can get more “bang for our buck” anywhere else.

A side benefit: DG Bill Shillito has agreed to the following: If a club participates in this Matching Grant Project they will have meet the requirements for Matching Grant participation in both the “Green Pages” and the Presidential Citation. This will mean that you will receive points in the International section of the Green Pages and will be credited in the International section of the Presidential Citation requirements. Two birds with one stone!!!

See the Paperwork details in the Extended Text.

NC Rotary License Plate
Posted by jimwest on: Thursday 21 July @ 14:14:39
A North Carolina specialty license plate – the Rotary Plate – is now available from the NC Department of Motor Vehicles.

This is not an individualized/personalized license plate (those are more expensive). This specialty license plate is available for just an additional $10.00 over and above the cost of a regular plate. Thus, if your current plate has a $20.00 renewal fee, the Rotary plate has an annual renewal fee of $30.00.

You do not need to wait until your current plate expires, and you have to renew it, in order to get one of these new Rotary License Plates. Anytime you order one, one will be sent to you by mail. You only need to send a check for $10.00 with your application form. After you receive your new plate, you will need to turn in your old plate at the DMV office and get new month and year stickers for your new plate. Those new stickers will expire on the same date as your current license tag expires.

Below is the URL to obtain an Adobe Acrobat File license plate application from the North Carolina DOT on-line:
