The RotaryRock tournament will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the Multi Purpose Center on the campus of Catawba Valley Community College, off Highway 70 East in Hickory, from 12 Noon until 8 pm.

This year’s RotaryRock Tournament will feature $2,000 in total prize money and include tournaments for the popular Xbox video games, Madden 2011, Guitar Hero III, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.  Last year, the tournament raised $1,000 to benefit the Catawba Valley Community College Scholarship Fund.

The event will also have a number of opportunities for the public to listen to lectures related to technology, Internet safety, e bay and health and wellness.

2010 Fall Classic Golf Tournament @ Grove Park Inn

2010 marks the 25^th anniversary of the Rotary Club of Arden’s Fall Classic Golf Tournament. We are proud to count CarePartners Hospice, who is celebrating their 30^th anniversary providing compassionate care for people nearing the end of life and support for those grieving, as one of our major sponsors. The event is going to be held at the historic and beautiful Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa in Asheville, NC on Thursday September 23^rd with a 1:00 PM start time. We will have two hole-in-one sponsors offering the chance to win an automobile (Land Rover) and $1M dollars! Lunch will be served prior to the afternoon flight by The Grove Park Inn, and dinner will be catered by Carrabba’s Italian Grill in the evening at the Grove Park Inn. Both meals are included in the price of the greens fee ($125 per golfer).

Friday evening the Burke County Rotary Clubs hosted Pastor Leon from Hati and various other Rotarian Leaders from across the district.  Pastor Leon gave a powerful presentation about the hunger and poverty situation in Hati.

Our District reaffirmed its goal to send 1,000,000 meals for use in Pastor Leon’s schools and orphanages that serve the poorest of the poor in our hemisphere.

Pastor Leon was also awarded as a Paul Harris Fellow for his service to Humanity and demonstrating the great ideals of Rotary.
