As you’ll see, Basti gave his report to his sponsoring club, the RC of Ahlen, yesterday.  In one of the photos you’ll see Basti getting ready to present the banner of his host club, the RC of Lake Hickory.

The reference to Friederike is to Basti’s older sister, who is spending this year working as a nanny in Florence (that’s Italy, not South Carolina).  Basti has a younger sister, Lea, who is applying to go abroad with RYE in the 2010-11 year.

This youngster has the potential to go far, and the RYE experience will impact him for a lifetime.

EMAIL FROM BASTI’S MOTHER

Dear Don,

yesterday Basti gave his presentation at the RC Ahlen. As you can
imagine, he did it great. It became very clear that it was his best year
ever. I’ll send some pictures and you can see yourself attending the
meeting. The members of the club were really impressed!
Friederike feels good in Florence, she has a very nice host-family and
is is quite warm there. Last Sunday Lea had her first orientation for
her year abroad and it is once more very exciting!
